My #1 strategy for making speaking profitable (plus LIVE virtual Master Class invitation)

One of the top questions I’m asked by people who are looking to start or scale their speaking is, “What’s a ‘typical’ speaking fee?”

While one of the things I know for sure about the speaking industry is that very few things about it are typical, a keynote for a corporation, conference or college can earn a speaker without a bestselling book $5000-$10,000 per engagement. If that keynote is for a Fortune 500 company (or you are on The New York Times bestseller list), think $15,000+.

It’s easy to be seduced by the idea of earning five-figures, and even multiple five-figures, from an hour of work. The problem with aspiring to be a keynote speaker is that it’s unpredictable.

Organizations that book paid keynote speakers do not typically put out a transparent “call for speakers” – nor do they take unsolicited pitches very seriously. They often identify the talent they want from reading books and articles, watching TV, from recommendations from former speakers – and then approach a speakers bureau or agent representing that person to negotiate the contract.

Most of my traditional keynote speaking opportunities have come from senior leaders and event organizers who pitched me on their opportunity. And if this was my sole stream of speaking revenue, I would be frustrated. And broke.

Fortunately, I’ve learned how to create multiple streams of speaking revenue – meaning I speak in a variety of different ways. And most of them put me in the driver’s seat. I don’t wait around for opportunities. I create my own!

In addition to keynotes, I facilitate corporate trainings, lead live workshops and retreats, and I deliver business presentations where I offer audience members the opportunity to work with me further.

It’s by integrating multiple streams of speaking revenue that I crossed the six-figure mark.

Now, it’s not uncommon for me to earn what a New York Times bestselling author makes from a single speaking event – because I’m super duper clear on speaking to audiences comprised of corporate decision makers and my ideal clients.

I’m excited to show you how to make speaking profitable – your way.

On Thursday, February 18th, I’m hosting 2 LIVE virtual Master Classes on how to Create Multiple Streams of Speaking Revenue.

I’ll share:

  • The key platforms for making money as a speaker – and how to choose the 3-4 that best align with your business, work and life goals
  • The essential materials required to book high quality speaking gigs – and what needs to live on your website and go into your pitches, submissions and agreements
  • The top mistakes that new speakers make when going pro – and how to avoid (or correct) them
  • And, as I always do, I’ll leave time to answer your specific questions

Having confidence, compelling content, charisma, a clear message and an equally clear call to action are important for being a powerhouse speaker. That’s why I focus so much on these areas in my free trainings and coaching programs. However, whether you are an entrepreneur or an executive (and comfortable with money conversations) or a change agent, performer, healer or thought leader (and a little less comfortable here), it’s vital to understand and be in control of the money pieces of speaking in order to realize your full potential as a speaker.

That’s why I want you in one of my Master Classes on the 18th.

That’s why I also want you to know that registration is open for The Spotlight MasterTreat – my mastermind-meets-transformational retreat for visionary female speakers. (Yes, this opportunity is just for the ladies.)
